How to Install OneNote app on Windows
Installation on Windows is quite simple. Go to Windows store on your desktop. Search for OneNote. Click Get to download and install the app on your windows.
How to install the OneNote on Android
Go to Google play store. Search for OneNote. Install the app.
Create your first notebook
The first thing is to launch the OneNote from your phone or desktop. Open the application. The first thing to do is to choose the Microsoft account for login.
This can be your work account or personal account. If you don’t have an account, you can quickly sign up for a free Microsoft account.
Once logged in, there will be a notebook that’s created for you by default with your name. Don’t worry. you can create as many notebooks as you wish later on.
Structure of OneNote
Understanding the OneNote structure is very important for easy navigation and utilizing the functionality to the maximum.
OneNote organizes information into three containers. It’s flexible enough that you can use each of these three containers to collect and organize information in virtually any way you want.
Notebooks: This is the highest level container of information. A notebook represent a collection of related information.
For example, you might create different notebooks one for each project.
Sections: This is the second level container of information that comes under the notebook. Each notebook can contain one or multiple sections.
For example, under the project notebook, sections can be created for planning, execution, controlling, teams
Pages: This is the third and last level container of information that comes under the section. So, each section can have one or multiple pages.
For example, pages can be To do list, client meeting notes, team meeting notes, drawings so on.
In a nutshell, we can create multiple pages under each section, multiple sections under each notebook and multiple notebooks as well.
Cool features of OneNote
OneNote has some great features that distinguish the app from other office products or for that matter, other note taking applications. The application is beyond a mere note taking app.
Use the Windows + Shift + S shortcut to copy the text to clipboard directly. You can then paste the content quickly to OneNote.
OneNote badge is available on Mobile phones for taking quick notes.
After you install OneNote on your Android phone, you’ll see the OneNote badge appear on the home screen.
It’s a great way to take a note quickly without opening OneNote. Simply tap the badge and add a note.
Send to OneNote
There is an app available for Windows called Send to OneNote. This app lets you print from any app to the OneNote app.

OneNote web clipper lets you quickly clip all or part of web page to OneNote, and save it for later. Clip almost anything to OneNote. Just go to windows store and install the app OneNote web clipper.
The web clipper is an extension on Microsoft Edge. If you want this for Chrome, just go to chrome web store, and install the app.

Don’t remember where you added your notes? Are you looking for information from an image stored somewhere in OneNote? OneNote is intelligent enough to read the text from images.
Just type CTRL+F shortcut to open the search window in OneNote. Type few characters and OneNote will find the text even from images and return the relevant results.

Attending an important meeting and quickly take notes? From outlook calendar, open the meeting and click Meeting notes with OneNote icon.

Notes can be quickly dictated using OneNote voice that automatically converts the audio into notes. From the Home menu, choose Dictate option and also select your language preference for getting desired results.

You can tag anything from a single line of text to an entire paragraph. Tags help find the information easily later on.

Taking notes on Maths can be cumbersome on other applications but not with OneNote. The onenote app has a native functionality to type equations from the keyboard that will convert into properly formatted equations.
Record Audio from OneNote by tapping Audio from Insert tab. This is helpful for recording any interviews or your own voice.
A variety of files can be attached to OneNote. You can attach a file, PDF, Pictures and online video, Audio and links to any page.
